When you’re ready to share your mural with other collaborators, you have two options. First, you can invite collaborators by email to your mural. Or, you can share a link to your mural.
Note: To enable visitor links for your workspace, check out our workspace settings article. If you’re on an Enterprise plan and want to enable visitor links for your company, check out our company settings article.

Generate mural link from Share modal
Using the Share modal is the preferred way to generate a link to your mural. The Share modal lets you choose what type of permissions you want for the visitors, guests, or members you share the link with.
To invite collaborators to a mural using an invite link:
You’ll first click Share in the top right corner of your mural to open the Share modal.
From the Share modal:
Click the Visitors tab. The visitor link serves as a share link for members, guests, and visitors.
Select can view, can edit, or no access from the Workspace members with the visitor link dropdown.
Select can view, can edit, or no access from the Anyone [else] with the visitor link dropdown.
Note: “can edit” will only show as an option if visitor editing is enabled for your workspace.
Click Copy link.
Note: You can reset the link by clicking the broken link icon and selecting Reset link. Resetting the link means no one with the original access will have access anymore.
Share the URL with other collaborators.
Note: You can open the Share modal and update the share permissions anytime you want. This will retroactively update the permissions for collaborators who’ve previously accessed your mural with this link.
Copy and paste the browser URL
A common approach to sharing a mural’s URL is to simply copy the browser’s URL and then paste and share it with a collaborator.
This link is the exact same link as the visitor share link from the Share modal. So, it behaves the same. There are a few behind-the-scenes details to keep in mind so you know what behavior to expect.
If visitor links are enabled:
Copying the browser URL of a mural will function just like a visitor link from the Share modal.
If someone you shared the link with is already authenticated with Mural and a member of that mural or workspace, they’ll pop right in to the mural.
If they’ve yet to authenticate with Mural, they’ll be prompted to create an account or enter the mural as a visitor.
If visitor links are disabled:
Copying and sharing the browser URL of a mural with registered users (members or guests) will function like an invite link. This means that users must authenticate with Mural before they can enter the mural you shared with them.
If the person trying to access the mural is a non-registered user (visitor), they’ll receive an error message that won’t let them access the mural.
Workflow for Share link logic
At Mural, we work with many types of companies with different permission requirements. So, we have different plans, user types, and permissions.
There are three ways to use a share link:
Invite a visitor to collaborate - The only way to invite visitors to a mural is by a visitor link. You can also password protect visitor links and set an expiration for visitor links. This access link only works if visitor links are enabled for the company or workspace.
Invite a new member or guest to collaborate - If you share an invite link with a new member or guest, they'll be prompted to create an account before accessing your mural.
Share your mural with an existing member or guest - If you share an invite link with an existing member or guest, they'll be prompted to log in and then arrive in your mural.
Here’s a high-level workflow showing the basic user experience when accessing a mural via a share link:
