FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

Here are answers to some questions that may pop up when using this integration:

  • Do I need a Google Workspace account to use the integration?

Yes, you need both a Google Workspace account and Mural account to install and use this integration.

  • Do I need a Mural account to use the integration?

You need a Mural account to insert a mural into Google Docs or Slides. But, if you have visitor permissions enabled on your mural, any participant that clicks the mural link on your Google document or presentation can access that mural, even if they don’t have a Mural account.

Regardless of your mural’s settings, any participant in Google Docs and Slides can see the snapshot image of your mural.

  • Do I need to turn on embedding for my mural to show up in Google Docs or Slides?

Nope. The image of your mural will be a preview image, and not an interactive embedded version. So, there’s no need to turn on embedding for your mural.

  • Can Google Workspace users access my mural even if they aren’t Mural members?

Depends on the visitor settings you’ve set up for your mural. Here’s how it works with visitor permissions enabled: If participants click the link to your mural, they can access your mural. Mural members will show up to the mural canvas with their actual names by their avatar. Visitors will have fun visitor names, like “Visiting Panda” or “Visiting Penguin.”

If your mural’s visitor permissions are disabled, participants must authenticate with Mural in order to access and collaborate on your mural.

  • I’m an Enterprise customer and this integration isn’t working for me. Why?

The company admin for your Enterprise plan must enable the integration from the Integrations tab on the company dashboard.

  • What happens if visitor permissions are disabled for my mural?

Any Google Workspace user with access to your Google document or presentation can see the preview image of the mural, regardless of your mural’s permissions. But, if visitor permissions are disabled, only Mural members can access and collaborate on your mural.

  • I changed the content on my mural, but the image in the Doc and Slide isn’t updated. How can I update the image?

The mural preview image in Google Docs and Slides won’t update automatically. To update the image, you’ll need to delete it and go through the steps to insert the mural again.
