Murals contain canvases that you can organize your ideas on. These canvases can be either a fixed size or infinite! The more comfortable you are navigating, the easier it will be to gather all the ideas you come up with as a team and add new content to share.

Navigation settings
You have two options when navigating your mural: trackpad mode and mouse mode. Trackpad mode lets you use pinch-to-zoom and scrolling gestures on your computer trackpad to move around a mural. Mouse mode lets you use your mouse to move around your mural, including using your mouse’s scrolling mechanism to zoom.
To switch between trackpad mode and mouse mode:
Click the Navigation Settings button in the bottom right corner of your mural.
Select either Trackpad mode or Mouse mode.
Click the X button to close the pop-up window.
Move mode
Need to display different areas in your canvas quickly? Concerned about messing up an elegantly designed mural? Switch to move mode! Move mode prevents you from editing any content while you move around the canvas.
To quickly switch between move mode and edit mode, hold the spacebar while navigating to the desired part of the canvas. When you release the spacebar, you switch back to edit mode.
If you want to turn on move mode for longer-term use, click the hand icon in the bottom right corner of your mural. Now, move mode is on until you click the hand icon again to turn it off.
Dot grid
Mural canvases can be either resizable or infinite. On newly created murals, your canvas will have the dot grid enabled by default to help you align content while also conveying a sense of scale as you zoom in and out. If you don’t see the dot grid on your canvas and want to turn it on (or if you see the dots and want to turn them off), here’s what you do.
To enable/disable the dot grid:
To keep objects aligned, you can also enable snap to grid, which automatically snaps objects to the nearest dots as you add them. This is also handy when resizing and moving objects on the canvas. You can enable this by right-clicking anywhere on the canvas as well.
Zoom in or out of a canvas
Mural enables you to work with your content on a canvas at different scales.
A canvas can be quite large—sometimes infinite! So, you’ll often want to zoom in to a spot to get a closer look or zoom out to see the bigger picture.
To zoom in or out of a canvas:
Click the zoom out (-) button or the zoom in (+) button in the bottom right corner of your mural.
OR
If you’re using mouse mode, you can also use the scroll wheel of your mouse to zoom. If you’re on trackpad mode, touch two fingers on the trackpad and move them apart to zoom in or together to zoom out.
Note: If you zoom in too far and no objects are visible on your screen, click the percentage in the bottom right of the screen and click Zoom to fit. |
If there’s a specific part of your canvas you want to view, you can quickly zoom to view that section.
To zoom in or out of a specific section:
Locate the section you want to zoom in on.
Hold the Z key on your keyboard.
Click + drag to select the area you want to zoom in on.
Hold Z + click + drag to select the area to zoom in. Or hold Alt + Z (Option + Z on Mac) to zoom out.
Mini-map
The mini-map in the bottom right of your mural is a tiny image of your canvas and all of its content. This offers a quick way to see where you’re currently working on your canvas. You can also use it to navigate and zoom around your canvas.
A colored box on the mini-map represents your current location in the canvas. You can click and drag this box to move around the canvas at any time.
