QEM pricing is best for organizations that want to align their investment in the Mural collaboration platform with an engagement-based pricing model that’s funded centrally. This pricing model is well-suited for companies planning to scale their adoption and use of the Mural collaboration platform to fuel transformation in their business.

Certain plans may also take advantage of our member pricing. Learn more about member pricing.

Under QEM pricing, you only pay for the number of QEMs who use the collaboration platform. That way, you aren’t paying for access for those who don’t need it. A member is considered a QEM based on the number of interactions they have over a specified period of time (typically 90 days). Each QEM requires their own seat and, just as any member, has full access to the collaboration features and content available in a plan.

Before choosing a plan, it’s important to understand who qualifies as a QEM and what happens if the number of QEMs exceeds the number of seats in your contract over the 90-day time period.

Below, you’ll find a breakdown of what constitutes a QEM and how a change in your number of QEMs can affect your subscription.

What is a quarterly engaged member?

A Quarterly Engaged Member (QEM) is defined as a member from your company domain (ex: name@companyname.com) who has, on at least three (3) unique days within the prior ninety (90) days, engaged in an “interaction.” Guests and visitors are not counted towards QEMs.

Each QEM requires a paid seat. So, let’s take a look at what counts as an “interaction.”

What is an interaction?

As mentioned above, QEMs are determined based on their number of interactions. An "interaction" is one or more of the following:

  • The creation of a workspace, room, or mural.

  • The invitation of a member, guest, or visitor.

  • The use of the timer setting, voting, or other Facilitation Superpowers®.

  • Any addition/deletion or edit to an object in a mural.

  • The moving, grouping, or changing of an object’s properties.

What happens if the number of QEMs exceeds the number of seats in your contract?

Under the QEM pricing model, customers can flexibly scale beyond their contracted seat amount without penalty. If the number of QEMs exceeds the number of seats in your contract over a given 90-day period, Mural will work with you to identify the appropriate next steps for the remainder of your contract term—whether that means adding more seats or deprovisioning some members.

No matter the situation, we are happy to partner with you to meet your collaboration goals.
