As a company administrator, you have the ability to install and pin the Mural App for others in your organization. (Talk about power, right?) Pinning the app means members of your organization will automatically have Mural available to them in the left-hand toolbar in Microsoft Teams. It also means the app will be pinned as a messaging extension. This is incredibly helpful in encouraging the effective collaboration made possible thanks to Mural.

Here’s how it looks when the Mural App is pinned in Microsoft Teams:

Install and pin the Mural App for Teams for an entire organization

Set up a Teams global app policy for Mural

Before you can pin the Mural App for your organization, you must first set up a global policy to grant everyone access to it.

To set up a Teams global app policy for Mural:

  1. Click Teams apps in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Setup policies. The App setup policies page opens.

  3. Under Manage policies, click Global (Org-wide default). The Global policy page opens.

  4. Under Installed apps, click the Add apps button. The app search window opens.

  5. Use the search bar to find the Mural App and select it.

  6. Click Add.

Now, the Mural App is installed as part of your organization’s Global policy.

Pin the Mural App for your organization

Now that you have a global policy for the Mural App, you can pin the app so it automatically displays for members of your organization.

To pin the Mural App for everyone in your organization:

  1. Under Pinned apps, click Add apps. The Add pinned apps window opens.

  2. Search for Mural.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Click Save.

It may take a few hours for this change to reflect for everyone in your organization. But once it does, the Mural App will be a default pinned app for all to use quickly and easily.

Install and pin the Mural App for Teams for a group

Instead of providing the app for all members of your organization, you might only need to install and pin the Mural App for certain employees. You can do that too!

Note: To install and pin the Mural App for a specific group or team, you must already have a team set up within your organization’s Microsoft Teams account. If you haven’t already done this, read how to create a new team. If you have a team but need to add users to it, read how to manage teams.

Set up a Teams app policy for Mural

First, you need to set up the new app policy for the Mural App. This differs from setting up the app policy for your entire organization because you create a new policy specific to one team rather than using a global policy.

To set up the Teams app policy:

  1. Click Teams apps.

  2. Click Setup policies.

  3. Under Manage policies, click + Add. The Add setup policies page opens.

  4. Add a name for your new policy.

  5. Add a description for your policy. This could be reflective of the team you’re pinning the app for.

  6. Under Installed apps, click the Add apps button.

  7. Use the search bar to find the Mural App.

  8. Click Add.

Pin the Mural App for a group

Now that you have your policy set up, you can assign it to a specific group so that the Mural App is pinned for members of that group.

To pin the Mural App for a group:

  1. On the Setup policies page, click Group policy assignment.

  2. Click + Add. The Assign policy to group window opens.

  3. Under Select a group, search for the team you want.

  4. Under Select a policy, select the policy you created in the previous section.

  5. Click Apply.

It may take a few hours for this change to reflect for everyone in your group. But once it does, the Mural App will be a default pinned app for anyone in that group to use quickly and easily.
