Having an "allowed" list of IP addresses enables Enterprise Network Company Administrators to limit the networks from which company members can connect and collaborate in MURAL. This list can be configured at a company level and is only available for customers on our Enterprise Network.

Once configured, company members can only access MURAL through identified IP ranges. If members are working remotely, they'll need to use a VPN before signing in to MURAL. Members who are part of the company's network will be able to sign in to MURAL and access the company's workspace. Members who aren't part of the company's network won't be able to sign in or access the company's workspace. Access is only allowed for company members within specific IP ranges.

Guest and Visitor Access with allowed IP addresses

If an allowed list of IP addresses is enabled, guests and visitors won't be able to collaborate. The only collaborators who can access company content are users in the company's domain(s).

If you need to collaborate with users outside of your company as guests or visitors, we don't recommend having an allowed list of IP addresses.

End-User Experience

Company members won't notice any change to their MURAL experience unless they try to connect from outside the allowed IPs. In that case, they'll be logged out and unable to sign back in, at which point they'll be redirected back to the sign-in page.

In addition, company members will no longer be able to collaborate in workspaces outside their company (this includes external visitor links). The only exception is MURAL employee workspaces, in which company members can participate in webinars or training hosted by the MURAL team.

If guests and visitors try to access any of the company workspaces, they'll see an error page and be redirected back to their dashboard.

Configuring your allowed list of IP addresses

To configure your allowed list of IP addresses for your company, send your IP ranges to your MURAL representative. The IP ranges should be in CIDR notation. For example:
