Have notes from an in-person brainstorming session? Save time by capturing and editing your physical sticky notes on the Post-it® App and exporting the content into MURAL! Learn more about the Post-it® App here.

Note: MURAL provides a similar solution via our built-in scanning feature, MURAL Scan.

The Post-it® App and MURAL integration is currently only available for iOS.

To use this integration, you must:

  • Have an iOS device.

  • Install the Post-it® App to your mobile device.

  • Install the MURAL for iOS App to your mobile device.

  • Have the MURAL for iOS App open with the target mural open. (The “target mural” is where you want your sticky notes to live once you export them.)

Export Post-it notes into MURAL

Once you have the Post-it® App and MURAL for iOS App installed on your iOS device, you’re ready to use this integration! First, you’ll need to prep your target mural in the MURAL App.

To prep your mural to import sticky notes:

  1. Open the MURAL App on your mobile device.

  2. Open the mural where you want the imported Post-it® notes to live.

The next part happens in the Post-it® App.

Note: If it’s your first time using the Post-it® App, you’ll see some pop-ups asking you about permissions and preferences. For example, you must enable handwriting recognition, give the app access to your camera, and so on.

To export Post-it® notes to your mural:

  1. Open the Post-it® App on your mobile device.

  2. Tap the plus (+) icon at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap the camera icon.

Note: If it’s your first time using the Post-it® App, you may see a pop-up that gives you an option to Capture Notes or Try Demo. If you have Post-it® notes ready to capture, tap Capture Notes. Otherwise, tap Try Demo to use the app’s demo board instead.

  4. Aim your mobile device’s camera at your Post-it® notes. Tap and hold the camera icon at the bottom of your screen to take a picture.

Note: A steady hand and good lighting are helpful for clearer results.

  5. (Optional) Enter your Board Name. If you leave this blank, your board name will default to the date you create it.

  6. Tap Create Board.

  7. Tap the Export icon in the top right corner of your Post-it® board.

  8. Tap to select Post-it® board as your export option.

  9. You’ll see a row of options including messages, AirDrop, and other apps. Scroll the row of app icons to the right until you see the MURAL App. Tap the MURAL App’s icon.

The MURAL App opens automatically and the Post-it® notes import directly into the open mural.

You can now drag and drop the sticky notes from the imported area, resize sticky notes, and so on. (The mural and the sticky notes are immediately available via the desktop app as well.)

Note: If you scan a sticky note that is a rectangle or other shape aside from a square, it still imports as a square sticky note.

  • How do I change the color of an imported sticky note?

You must change the color of the sticky note in the Post-it® App. Then, export the updated sticky notes to your mural.

To update the sticky note color in the Post-it® App:

    1. Tap the Post-it note you want to update.

    2. Tap the pencil mark (squiggle) icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

    3. Tap the Sticky Note icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.

    4. Tap the color you want to change your selected Post-it note to.

    5. Tap Save in the top right corner of the screen.

Now, you're ready to export your updated, colorful sticky notes into your mural!

  • What if my physical sticky note isn’t square?

The Post-it® App will automatically update your sticky note’s digital shape to a square.
